FCC presents new cleaning service in Oviedo

FCC, which has the urban sanitation concession for the city of Oviedo, presented its new fleet of vehicles for waste collection and street cleaning in the city.

The new service is expected to produce 330 million euro in revenues over the term of the contract; FCC plans to invest close to 12 million euro. The contract is for ten years, with the possibility of a ten-year extension.

The new fleet comprises 76 vehicles driven by compressed natural gas, which produce very low levels of noise and atmospheric pollution.

FCC technicians described the workings of the new machinery, which includes waste collection trucks, street-washers, street-sweepers and graffiti removal trucks.

FCC has been in charge of sanitation in Oviedo since 1967.

Oviedo has received several awards from ATEGRUS (the Spanish Waste Management and Environment Association) for being one of the cleanest cities in Spain.
