Bilfinger Berger to carry out new projects in Germany

Bilfinger Berger is to carry out two new projects with a total investment volume of €130 million in the growing German market for public building concessions.

The German state of Saxony-Anhalt has selected Bilfinger Berger as preferred bidder to design, finance, build and operate the Burg correctional facility. For the first time in Germany, all non-sovereign services throughout the entire life-cycle of a correctional facility will be put entirely in the hands of a private company. The building complex, with room for 650 prisoners, is to be completed in 2009 and the operating phase extends over 25 years.

Within the framework of another public-private partnership, this one in the German state of Saxony, the Group has received an order to realize the Justice Center Chemnitz, home of the municipal court and the state attorney's offices. The project includes the design, financing and construction as well as the subsequent operation over an initial period of 20 years.
