Russians are looking for investors at Expo Real 2006

The Russian Federation is represented more strongly than ever at Expo Real 2006. The 9th International Trade Fair for Commercial Real Estate will take place in Munich from 23 to 25 October 2007. More than 30 exhibitors from Russia will present their potential for investors and be on the lookout for new partners.

Compared to the previous year, participation from the Federation has increased by almost 40 percent. For example, the city of Moscow will exhibit on more than 500 square meters of space. Both government institutions and twelve of the largest construction companies and real estate developers will present their projects and investment offers with models and plans.

According to an analysis of the real estate service provider Aengevelt, there are medium to long term needs for approximately an additional seven million square meters of sales space in the retail sector as well as 40 million square meters in the office sector (with the supply of such space in Berlin used as comparison). This requires investments of approximately 75 billion US dollars.

"Moscow offers incomparable opportunities for developers and investors with money, but it is not a place for slowpokes or dawdlers, " Dr. Wulf Aengevelt from Aengevelt Immobilien stated The region of Moscow and the city of Ekaterinburg are exhibiting at EXPO REAL for the first time too. Such mid-sized cities and areas within commuting distance of large cities are especially attracting the increasing interest of investors.

As a supplement to the exhibiting companies, the Expo Real conference program will provide insights into the Russian market. Renowned experts such as Alexey Chichkanov, 1st Deputy Chairperson of the Commercial Real Estate Committee St. Petersburg, and Igor Parhomenko, Vice Governor for Construction and Development in the Moscow region, will provide first-hand information at the "Real Estate Investors Guide: Russian Federation" at 5 pm on 24 October 2006. The same event for investors will focus solely on Moscow at 12 noon on 23 October 2006.

The Fokus magazine correspondent for Moscow, Boris Reitschuster, will conduct a discussion with the Lord Mayor of Moscow, Yurj Luzhkov, about the political framework conditions that are required to development new business areas and create an attractive investment climate.
