'ClimateDesign meets Visions of Glass' at Bau 2007

At Bau 2007, Europe´s leading trade fair for building materials used in industrial, commercial and residential construction, and interiors, which takes place from 15 to 20 January 2007 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany, some 2,000 exhibitors from around 40 countries are expected to take part. The focal themes in 2007 will be intelligent facades, renovations and modernisation, energy-efficient construction, building automation and function and design. In the new forum entitled 'ClimateDesign meets Visions of Glass', Bau will be showcasing integrated concepts and technologies, systems and products on the theme of sustainable building, transparent building skins and the use of glass in construction.

A trade conference of the same name will be bringing together experts from around the world. The forum and the trade conference are part of the large display at Bau entitled 'Visions of Glass'. The programme of lectures and panel discussions covers the following themes: 'Building the future', 'New materials, technologies and systems', 'The building skin as an integrated solution', 'Building in different climate regions', 'The new energy age without oil and gas' and 'Glass in construction'.

ClimateDesign is about designing buildings that offer a maximum of comfort with minimum energy consumption. This consumption refers not only to heating and cooling energy, but all the relevant energy and resources streams relevant to a building. Comfort is not just about room temperature, but all those aspects that go towards making a pleasant indoor environment.

One of the highlights at Bau 2007 is without doubt the glass display entitled 'Visions of Glass'. Taking up an entire exhibition hall (C2), covering 10,000 square metres, this display features all the latest developments and products in the field of glass and glass architecture. A key focus of interest will be the 'intelligent façade', which is a façade that integrates functions such as cooling, ventilation, heating and security, thus creating a more efficient envelope for the building and a more pleasant environment for its occupants.
