A new auto seaming concept from Ashton

Ashton Industrial has developed a new seaming concept, SeamMaX-X, for fully automatic seaming of mixed random lite sizes where space is at a premium. Two parallel glass edges are processed simultaneously through each of two powerful seaming stations which are linked by an automatic 90º transfer.

New technology allows the moving seamers on each leg to automatically seek and find the edges of random size lites at high speed, with absolutely no manual input. Lites are transported through the seaming stations on Ashton's vacuum belts. Glass is sucked on to the moving transport belts, resisting slippage while grinding pressure is applied. The result is a perfect seam with no contact at all with the upper glass surface, invaluable when processing coated glass.

The whole line is constructed from non-rusting stainless steel and large dimensioned aluminium extrusions, exploiting all the benefits of wet diamond belt grinding. Options of automatic corner dubbing, edge deletion and laser logo marking can all be specified with no cycle time penalty.
