Hitachi introduces new Lithium Ion tools

Hitachi Power Tools announced the additions to its 18-Volt Lithium Ion cordless line, the WH18DL Impact Driver & WR18DL Impact Wrench. Powered by HXP batteries from Hitachi, the Lithium Ion technology generates 3x the battery life of standard NiCd batteries. The WH18DL Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver offers 1330 in/lbs of torque to power through the toughest jobs with ease. The WR18DL Impact Wrench produces an 1950 in/lbs of turning and tightening torque. At the heart of Hitachi's new Lithium Ion impacts is the industrial-grade, 2-piece motor with heavy gauge copper coils that makes them the powerful and long lasting.

Hitachi's Cool Flow system provides a steady stream of air to the motor, allowing the impact to run harder and longer, minimizing the risk of burnout. Both the impact driver and impact wrench feature Hitachi's unique two-step speed switch located on the side of the handle that gives the user the ability to select Power Mode, for full speed applications or Save Mode, for more control and less power when the application requires. The ¼"hex chuck on the new impact driver save time. Bits can be changed quickly and easily by simply grabbing, pulling, inserting, and releasing the chuck. Bits are secure and won't slip or fall out. The ½" square chuck on the impact wrench easily accepts all ½" sockets for convenience and flexibility.

Other features include an externally accessible carbon brush for quick and easy maintenance, replaceable armature, 2-piece magnet motor and a 5-position belt hook with integrated LED job light for convenience. New Lithium Ion Impacts from Hitachi have length at only 6-3/8" and 6.58" and lightweight at 3.5 lbs each. They are well-balanced; ideal for working in tight spaces or compromised positions such as on a ladder or under a deck, for tackling heavy projects like tightening carriage bolts, driving lags, and sinking deck screws to performing lightweight work such as hanging doors and installing cabinets and windows.

Hitachi HXP Lithium Ion batteries that power the WH18DL and WR18DL have a life of approximately 1500 cycles.
