Craftsmen the focal point at glasstec 2006 in Düsseldorf

From 24 to 28 October 2006 glasstec 2006 will be held in Düsseldorf. For the first time the leading trade fair for glass products, glass finishing techniques and glass applications will present special ranges for the skilled trades and craftsmen. The most important international glass trade fair has its origins in the glaziers' trade. This trade continues to be one of the most important visitor groups. Reason enough for the organizers at Messe Düsseldorf, in cooperation with the Federal Association of Glazier Trades (BIV), to develop an additional programme tailored to the requirements of craftsmen. Under the motto "Focus on Skilled Trades" on 28 October, the Saturday of the fair, a series of interesting information features and activities will be presented for craftsmen.

Here for example a series of lectures will be held, organized by the specialist symposium for the "glass technology live" special show, which are geared to the interests of skilled glass finishers and craftsmen. The spectrum of the themes here extends from the latest glass products for interior design through to finishing using silk-screen prints, colour effect filters and stained glass up to innovative glass application in facades. The focal point throughout the event, organized by the Institute of the Glaziers' Trade, will be the practical applications in craftsman's companies.

Spectacular glass products and applications await visitors on the BIV's 1,000 m2 joint stand in Hall 9. A sensation here will be the glass bridge which is over six metres long. No less interesting for glaziers' daily, practical applications will be the ball-impact tests demonstrated live on the stand to test the robustness and stability of security-application glazing. A further programme highlight is the presentation of the 2006 Glass Finisher's Prize.

In addition on the BIV stand, guild members can expect a very attractive bonus. With the support of the Hegla and Renault companies as well as the Association of Window Makers, on 28 October the BIV will be holding a prize draw for a brand new Renault Master transporter converted for professional glass transport, worth 36,000 Euros on the basis of a paid 3-year leasing contract.
