Siemens honored for efforts in the area of sustainability

Siemens has been listed on the Climate Leadership Index of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an investors' initiative, for the second time and on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the seventh time in a row.

The CDP investors' initiative comprises 225 institutional investors, who administer assets totaling US$31, 500 billion. The Climate Leadership Index lists the top 50 companies on the FT 500 Index and evaluates – on the basis of an independent survey – companies' climate protection strategies as well as their measures to reduce emissions. Companies are selected in ten sector-specific categories. Siemens is among the top companies in the Index's Industrial Conglomerates category.

Siemens also appears on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2006, which was likewise published in September, for the seventh time in a row. Based on the Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX Limited and the SAM Group, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes contain the ten to 20 percent of the companies on a sector's World and European Indexes that have achieved the best results in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria.
