Thermo Electron introduces new measuring cell

Thermo Electron Corporation has introduced a new measuring cell for HAAKE rheometers designed specifically to test construction materials. Rheological testing of construction materials can be subject to inaccuracy due to formation of slip films or local inhomogeneities in the sample tested.

Thermo Electron's new construction material cell provides a wide range of wall profiling options to counteract these effects. Unlike conventional measuring cups with fixed profiling heights, the new HAAKE construction material cell allows the profiling ribs to be changed as needed.

The construction material cell is supplied with a standard profiling rib height of 2mm. Profiling heights of 1 mm, 0 mm and custom dimensions are also available. This range of accessories permits quick and simple adaptation of the measuring system geometry to the specific material at hand. Vane rotors of various diameters are also offered to ensure positive sample homogenization.

Thermo's new construction material cell used with a HAAKE rheometer is ideally suited for oscillatory regimes, reliably characterizing the elastic properties of building materials while minimizing structural disturbance. Constructed of high-quality stainless steel, the measuring cell is suitable for use even with abrasive materials and fillers. Temperature control can be achieved with an optional temperature control jacket and thermocouple sensor immersed in the sample tested. The jacket is mounted on an adapter plate that ensures positive positioning and allows fast and easy removal of the test cell as required for external filling or cleaning.
