| Manser Medal for the UK best one-off home The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) announces the shortlist for the Manser Medal. The award is given for the best one-off house or major extension designed by an architect in the UK. A house of bricks in a Bayswater back street; an upside-down new-build barn for a client who uses a wheelchair on the Norfolk Broads; a 'Corbusian' cube of white render and glass in leafy Surrey; a light-filled house on a back-land site in Notting Hill and an origami-roofed extension to an Edwardian house in Chiswick - these are the competitors for an award that seeks to lay down bench-marks and raise the standard of all housing design. The Manser Medal winner will be announced and presented at the RIBA Stirling Prize Dinner on Saturday 14 October, at The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Road, London. The shortlist for the Manser Medal is: Brick House by Caruso St John Architects; Esher House by Wilkinson King Architects; Holly Barn by Knox Bhavan Architects LLP; Light House by Gianni Botsford Architects; Wrap House by Alison Brooks Architects. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
