New connector sealing technology from Tyco Electronics

The GSIC gel seal for in-line and antenna connectors from Tyco Electronics Corporation provides telecom infrastructure designers and installers with a robust weatherproofing system for sealing jumper-to-feeder and jumper-to-antenna connectors that are exposed to outside environments. The GSIC closure system includes a locking clamshell enclosure that is filled with high performance sealing gel. Since the clamshell design allows installers to wrap around connectors and in-line components without unmating the connectors, installation is simplified. The intuitive, tool-free locking mechanism provides audible indication when the clamshell is locked. Installers can open the clamshell and re-close for connector repairs or inspections.

The innovative gel-filled internal cavity provides an effective barrier against moisture and foreign material ingress to the clamshell to IP 68. Gel sealing technology continues to gain acceptance in telecom infrastructures due to its wide temperature operating range, reliability and performance. Additionally, since GSIC closures can be opened and closed many times, there is no waste or cost to inspect the inside of the closure. Tape, mastics and other external installation materials are not required.

In-line transition GSIC product is available in three sizes with two additional antenna transition versions as well.
