Aluminium 2006 demonstrates top form

More than 670 exhibitors from 39 nations have registered for the Aluminium World Fair and Congress from September 20th – 22nd in Essen. Innovative solutions and the latest technological developments regarding this versatile material take centre stage during Aluminium 2006 – from the raw material to the final application. The fair focuses on the application areas Transportation, Building & Construction, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering etc.

With an exhibition surface grown to 50,000 sqm this year, Aluminium offers everything to do with the innovative material of the future in seven exhibition halls. Aluminium is the largest specialised fair for the aluminium industry worldwide. With the support of the partner Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie e.V. (GDA) and the European partner EAA the fair trade has become part of the aluminium world.

A large number of exhibitors will present their companies in national country pavilions at the fair. For the first time, a Scandinavian Pavilion will open in 2006 where visitors will find companies from Norway and Sweden . The joint stands booked by exhibitors from China, India, Bahrain and the Netherlands have again increased in size.

Apart from country pavilions, Aluminium 2006 has also further extended the concept of theme pavilions. The focus here is the Casting Pavilion, which had a successful first opening at Aluminium 2004. For the first time, Aluminium will feature a Surface Treatment Pavilion this year to extend the pavilion concept under the motto "World of Surface".

The Aluminium Congress, organised by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde (DGM) for the first time this year, will take place from September 21 st – 22 nd in the Congress Center West. Representatives of companies and research institutions will talk about their subjects in more than 100 lectures altogether, grouped in the subject blocks Aircraft, Processing, Automotive and Materials Technology.

The "European Aluminium Award" is the leading European award for the industry and has developed into one of the highlights of the fair. The prize is awarded by initiative of the Dutch Aluminiumcenter in cooperation with EAA, GDA and the fair organisers, Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH. This year it will be presented in a total of six categories, to cover the major fields of aluminium applications. For the first time, the global players Alcan, Alcoa, Hydro and Aleris will jointly sponsor the 5 th European Aluminium Award.

Starting in 2006, there will be another event to complement Aluminium. Composites Europe is a new trade fair for composite materials in Europe which will be held parallel to Aluminium. Approximately 200 international exhibitors will present themselves in Hall 1 of Essen Fairgrounds.
