Jacobs develops study on light rail system in Dublin

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that a subsidiary company received a contract from Ireland's Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) to carry out an alignment selection study on Dublin's light rail system.

Jacobs will conduct the Metro West Alignment Selection Study to identify the preferred alignment for a Metro line linking the Luas Red Line at Tallaght in south Dublin with the Metro North line in the Dublin Airport area. The study will be approximately 12 months in duration with an option for RPA to require assistance with future stages as the project develops.

The scheme is a key element of both the Irish government's Transport 21 policy and the Dublin Transportation Office's "A Platform for Change" initiative. Transport 21 provides for total capital funding of over Euro 34 billion in transport over the next ten years, with about Euro 16 billion dedicated to investment in public transport. Transport 21 is a national policy.
