Opus North to build residential development in Vernon Hills

Rosemont-based Opus North Corp. announced that the Village of Vernon Hills, Ill., has approved its 10-acre residential development, Port Clinton Place, which will consist of 132 luxury condominiums and 47 town home residences.

Port Clinton Place will be part of a more than 20-acre mixed-use development. Located at Route 45 and Port Clinton Road, just west of Milwaukee Avenue, the development will be within walking distance of restaurants, retail shops and Lincolnshire's village center.

The Opus residential component is anticipated to generate in excess of $10 million in funding for the TIF district. These funds will support plans for restaurants, lifestyle retail and the campus expansion and improvement for the College of Lake County.

The approved plan calls for 47 three-story town homes and 132 condos (66 units per mid-rise building). Each condo building will have six levels of residential over two levels of parking. The condominiums will be comprised of one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging from approximately 900 square feet to 2,200 square feet with prices ranging from the mid $200s to $500s. The town homes will range from 2,000 square feet to 2,300 square feet and will start from the low $400s.

The first units will be delivered in the fall of 2007.
