UK's top five park workers and parks departments identified

The finalists have been selected for the Parkforce awards, the awards scheme that celebrates the valuable work being done by thousands of park workers across Britain. Those shortlisted include a Woodkeeper in London's Highgate Wood, who has taught children about the wildlife that lives in the wood, to the parks department in Leeds that has introduced a rapid response 'Parkswatch' team of motorcycle rangers to support the staff working in their parks. The winning park worker and Parkforce will be announced on 31 August.

• Cindy Blaney, Woodkeeper at Highgate Wood in North London
• Cellan Michael, Project Manager at Ashton Court Estate in Bristol
• Larissa Seabrook, Park Ranger in Kempston, Kingsbrook and Cauldwell in Bedford
• Paul Spriggs, Urban Park Development Ranger in Rotherham
• Fredy Tematema, Park Keeper at Moonlit and Sunset Parks in Birmingham
