Duke Realty begin construction on St. John's Mercy rehab hospital

Duke Realty Corporation, St. John's Mercy Medical Center and Centerre Healthcare announced construction is under way on the St. John's Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital, a freestanding, state-of-the-art 50-bed rehabilitation hospital in Chesterfield.

The new 114,000-square-foot hospital will provide an inpatient environment that promotes recovery outside of a traditional hospital and is designed to facilitate an easier transition to home.

Upon completion in June 2007, St. John's Mercy will move all its existing rehabilitation programs in Creve Coeur to the new location in Chesterfield, transitioning current employees to the new location. Duke will develop and own the complex, while St. John's Mercy will partner with Centerre Healthcare to operate the facility. The hospital project also signals continued growth for Duke in the St. Louis metropolitan area and in particular along the Highway 40 corridor.
