Fugro ends first half year of 2006 with record profit

Fugro, a Dutch geoscience - data collector, reported its major developments in the first half year of 2006. Fugro provides services such as precise positioning, construction materials testing, reservoir engineering and data management. Its operations have been organized into three divisions: Geotechnical, Survey and Geoscience. Net result for the first six months of 2006 increases by 68.5% to EUR 54.1 million (2005: EUR 32.1 million). Revenue for the first half of 2006 increases by 25.9% to EUR 652.4 million (2005: EUR 518.2 million).

Fugro is benefiting from continuing favourable market conditions, in particular in the oil and gas sector and mining, as well as from the upswing in the market for infrastructure related work. During the first half of 2006 the number of employees rose by 7.3% to 9, 161. The high level of backlog maintained, increase of 35% compared to mid 2005.

The 2006 revenue is expected to be around EUR 1,400 million (2005: EUR 1, 161 million). Net result for the whole of 2006 is expected to be at least EUR 130 million (2005: EUR 99 million). The previously announced additional investment programme for 2006 of EUR 100 million is progressing according to plan and will start to contribute to revenue and result in the course of the second half of the year.
