| Ramboll to construct a new tunnel in Ireland Together with its Irish joint-venture partner Fehily Timoney & Co., Ramboll Denmark has won the assignment as independent consultant to a new tunnel project beneath the River Shannon near Limerick. The tunnel is part of the second phase of a large circular road project with a motorway around Limerick. The overall cost of the project is estimated to DKK 3.5 bn. The tunnel makes up approx. DKK 1 bn. The project is a so-called Public-Private Partnership, in which private investors participate in both financing and operating the facilities. The assignment involves a completely independent design check of the tunnel, which is an emerged tunnel. The assignment comprises the tunnel itself, as well as the facilities where the tunnel makes landfall. With a length of approx. 1 km, the cross section of the tunnel is of the size of the motorway tunnel beneath Oresund, where Ramboll acted as consultant to the client. The assignment is expected to have duration of two and a half years. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
