| SMC Group announces new contract awards SMC Group Plc, the architects and design business, issued details of the construction value and new fees contracted since its previous announcement in May 2006. The following are some of the projects contributing to a total construction value of over £1.2bn and represent stage fees for SMC in excess of £17m to be earned over the next few years, including construction values (£750m) and stage fees (£7.5m) secured as a result of the acquisition of Charter Consultant Architects on 30th May 2006. SMC has formed a specialist division, SMC Sport & Leisure that will target the ever growing leisure markets, including opportunities relating to the 2012 London Olympics. It already has a number of projects in this area including the redevelopment of Royal Windsor Racecourse and two first class cricket grounds. Amongst a number of swimming pool developments the Group has been appointed to complete a feasibility study for an Olympic sized swimming pool by Ipswich Borough Council.
