URS managing US Highway 41 corridor expansion

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has awarded a contract to URS Corporation to provide program management advisory services for the US Highway 41 corridor expansion program in the Green Bay/Fox Cities area.

This Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) mega project encompasses roughly 40 miles of widening, interchange modernization, reconstruction, traffic operations and safety improvements. WisDOT is charged to delivering this mega project within an accelerated schedule and limited budget.

URS is providing similar services to WisDOT on the Marquette Interchange in Milwaukee; Wisconsin's first FHWA designated mega project. WisDOT began construction of the Marquette Interchange in April 2004 and maintains its scheduled completion by December 2008 as well as its budget of $810 million. The successful management tools, implementation and training procedures from Marquette will be used as the basis for standards on US Highway 41.
