| New LED package for surface mount lighting applications  Providing lighting design engineers with a high brightness surface mount 1-watt LED in a robust, energy-efficient package, TT electronics Optek Technology has developed a miniature device with a thermal resistance of just 2°C/watt. The single-packaged LEDs are part of Optek's Lednium Series of solid state lighting devices. Designated the OVTL01LGA Series, the surface mount LEDs offer high luminance, a full 120° viewing angle and are available in amber, blue, green, red and white. The OVTL01LGA Series devices each feature one 1W LED chip mounted in a miniature copper surface mountable package.With its wide viewing angle and exceptional spatial uniformity, Optek's Lednium Series 1W LED assembly is ideal for a wide variety of solid state lighting applications, including automotive interior and exterior lighting, architectural lighting, electronic signs and displays. The OVTL01LGA Series assemblies are available in amber; blue; green; red; and white. All colors feature a full 120° viewing angle in water clear lenses. The OVTL01LGA Series exhibits DC forward current of 0.35A, with a peak pulsed forward current of 1A. Typical forward voltage characteristics range from 2.0V to 3.3V, and reverse voltage for all devices is 5V. Maximum allowable junction temperature is 130°C and the device features an ultra-low thermal resistance of 2°C/W. Operating temperature range is -50°C to +80°C.
