IKK 2006 gives a fresh impetus to energy efficiency

EU studies show that over 40% of energy can be saved in the European heating market. Large potentials are also lying dormant in the refrigeration segment. Air conditioning and ventilation technology offers energy-efficient components and systems for this purpose and the IKK trade fair in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 18-20 October 2006 provides a representative survey of the latest state of the art. The sector with the largest consumption of primary energy is building and not – as often assumed – transport.

Studies show that Germany alone has an energy saving potential of some 125 TWh in buildings. This corresponds to annual energy cost savings of almost Euro 4 billion. CO2 emissions could be reduced by about 30 million t at the same time. A total investment of about Euro 20 billion is necessary to achieve these savings. A huge potential and figures that can also be applied to other European countries.

The amendment of the Energy Conservation Act expected in 2007 with the new energy pass requires clear information about the energy consumption of buildings.

Once the weak points of a building have been determined, intelligent solutions are needed for implementing the savings as per the standards of the energy pass. The wide range of possible uses means that each building has its own requirements, for which a representative range of products is available at IKK.

The visitor finds decentralized air conditioning and ventilation systems based on water or direct vaporization, central air conditioning systems or home ventilation systems and heat pumps, efficient heat and cooling storage technologies or even solar-aided heating and cooling and absorption systems.

The display of products is supplemented by the fifth IKK Forum "Innovative Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Ventilation – Systems, Components and Practical Examples". Selected system solutions for refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation are discussed at a special show on all three days of the exhibition.
