Caterpillar introduces Electric Power SpecSizer tool

Caterpillar introduces the new Electric Power SpecSizer tool for generator set sizing and specifying. SpecSizer provides accurate and timely technical data, robust load models and optimized algorithms.

Several new features set SpecSizer apart as a good tool in generator set sizing, including its ability to evaluate load types including air conditioners, elevators, ultraviolet lights, single-phase NEMA and single-phase IEC motors. SpecSizer also employs an Internet-based auto-update capability to synchronize the program's generator set data with the most current technical data for Caterpillar Electric Power products, while also introducing new generator set product.

SpecSizer also offers an Application Wizard that collects the user's loads, then organizes them into steps, considering voltage dip and load demands, to assist in selecting the most competitive generator set size in terms of both rating and footprint. This can provide help to new users, as well as a quick-start for experienced users.

The tool also provides two methods for sizing based on customer specific frequency dips. In addition to the generator set sizing analysis, SpecSizer provides a concise, customizable text document or Guide Specification that is dynamically linked to any selected generator set. SpecSizer also generates a Project Sizing Report populated from Caterpillar's corporate data system. The Project Sizing Report displays engine, alternator and generator set technical data, and can be easily distributed electronically using an integrated PDF driver.
