Barratt wins nine former school sites in West Scotland

Barratt Developments has secured nine redundant school sites in South Lanarkshire, West Scotland, to build almost 1, 400 new homes worth more than £185 million.

The project – one of the largest single regeneration programmes undertaken by Barratt in recent years – will start next year and run on until 2011.

In total, Barratt will build some 1,400 apartments and houses on 85 acres of former school land, including flats and terraced houses aimed at first-time buyers and starting at under £100,000. Construction firm Amec will be building new schools on or near the old sites.
