Hochtief's Australian subsidiary Leighton has secured the contract for the design and construction of a new four-lane highway approximately five kilome-ters long in Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand.

Leighton Contractors Limited will deliver the project, designated the Manukau Extension Project, through a joint venture with the Australian construction company Downer EDI. The design work is being undertaken by consultants led by Sinclair Knight Merz Limited and Golder Associates. The contract has a volume of just under EUR 100 million. Leighton has a 50 percent share in the joint venture. Work will commence later this year and is due to be completed in 2010.
