President of Bechtel's business line appointed to DOE Committee

Jim Reinsch, president of Bechtel's nuclear power business line, was appointed to the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) new Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee.

The committee will advise U.S. secretary of energy on issues related to the development of hydrogen and fuel-cell technologies. Reinsch is one of 25 members selected for the committee. They were selected from more than 100 nominees submitted in response to a Federal Register Notice.

Hydrogen is key to DOE’s long-term energy and environmental security strategy, is an integral part of the President Bush’s Advanced Energy Initiative (AEI), and supports a robust technology portfolio. Under the AEI, President Bush’s FY 2007 budget requests $215 million for hydrogen research and development, a 55 percent increase from 2006.
