| Latest forestry technology at the Interforst 2006 Munich show The 10th Interforst, International Trade Fair for Forestry and Forestry Technology will be taking place from 12 to 16 July 2006 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. Over 400 exhibitors from around 20 countries will be exhibiting the latest technology for the natural resource of wood. Around 45,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend Interforst 2006. The event will be taking up over 40,000 square metres of exhibition space, divided between two halls and the open-air site. On display will be the latest machinery, equipment and technical systems for the following fields: cropping and harvesting, timber transport, round timber storage, reforestation and planting, forest care and protection. Other important themes are heating with wood, vehicles for transporting timber, timber processing, conservation and recreation woodland, care of trees and the countryside and land-use engineering. The range of areas covered by the Interforst 2006 exhibition also extends to data-processing, surveying, management and telecommunications in forestry, as well as health and safety at work, first aid, information, advice and services. A traditional focus of the exhibition is of course timber harvesting technology, from simple motormanual solutions to the latest high-tech machinery such as harvesters and forwarders. New in 2006 is a section on off-road vehicles and quads. In the sawmill section, trade visitors will find the range much expanded. Leading manufacturers of data-processing systems will be coming along to display their products, in response to increasing demand for special software for the forestry sector. The used machinery mart is sure to attract a lot of attention – this section is being planned for the first time at Interforst 2006. The Interforst Congress will be taking place for the first time in the midst of the fair. Special displays and forums are being prepared by Messe München in cooperation with two forestry associations: the Kuratorium für Waldarbeit und Forsttechnik (KWF) and the Bundesverband der landwirtschaftlichen Berufsgenossenschaften (BLB). On the occasion of Interforst 2006 Messe München and KWF are again holding an innovations competition.
