| Caterpillar's Specialty Industries Division Vice President retires Caterpillar Inc. announced that Specialty Industries Division Vice President D.G. (Don) Western will retire effective August 31, 2006. Western, 58, served as vice president of two other divisions before assuming his current role in 2004. He first led the Large Power Systems Division from 1995 to 2002, then the Track-Type Tractors Division from 2002 to 2004. Before becoming an officer, Western held various positions within the company, starting with his role in East Peoria plant operations and purchasing in 1971. He served in numerous capacities in manufacturing until 1990, including manufacturing manager of the Aurora, Ill., plant.
