Jacobs receives bridge project from Transport Scotland

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that a subsidiary company received a contract from Transport Scotland to provide supervision and engineering services to create a second bridge crossing and associated approach roads over the Forth Estuary at Kincardine, Fife, in central Scotland.

Transport Scotland is the agency of the Scottish Executive responsible for major infrastructure projects across Scotland. The site work on the 120 million British pounds sterling project is scheduled to commence in June 2006, with estimated completion expected in autumn 2008. The 1.2 kilometer-long bridge, with its 5.2 kilometers of approach roads, will offer road users an alternative to the existing Kincardine Bridge which was built in the 1930s.

The new bridge will be constructed in the Firth of Forth Special Protection Area, an area of international importance for migratory and over-wintering birds.
