| The town-planning sector updates its ideas at Tem Tecma 2006 Tem Tecma 2006, the International Town-Planning and Environment Fair, organized by IFEMA, stages this year its thirteen edition. The fair takes place at Feria de Madrid between 13th and 16th June 2006. The event, which is aimed at professionals from the town-planning and environment sector, will feature the participation of some 368 direct exhibitors and 177 represented companies, producing a total of 545 companies. According to sectors, the most strongly represented include solid waste treatment and other types of pollution, accounting for 39% of participants, followed by urban equipment companies (25%) and urban services (10%). Among the new features at this edition is the presentation, for the first time in Europe of Big Belly - thanks to a solar panel, this rubbish container reduces the volume of the rubbish; containers with different loading mouths for each type of rubbish; a new self-cleaning toilet; the recycling house for children; a new electronic device for rubbish collection vehicles, as well as the presentation of new trends in urban furniture design, among others. The waste water management and purification business witnessed growth of 8.5% over the last year, achieving a turnover of some 830 million euros, whilst industrial waste treatment enjoyed growth of 7.8%. This year it is expected to achieve a turnover of 895 million euros. The urban furniture sector is another of the strongly represented fields at the fair. Manufacturers have focused a large part of their efforts on providing innovative solutions to this kind of anti-social phenomenon, as well as to new phenomena such as ´parkour´ (jumping on top of urban furniture). The theme of environmental protection is another important issue that will be tackled at the fair. The Spanish Association of Battery, Accumulator and Mobile Collection Companies, AERPAM, will promote greater awareness of battery collection by means of its ´Battery Awards´, acknowledging the efforts carried out in this sense by institutions with the greatest collection capacity throughout Spain. The Spanish Wood Recycling Association, ASERMA, has pointed out, the recycling of wood prevents the felling of a large number of trees, as well as providing environmental benefits. Other activities include those organized by the Specialized Association for Waste and Environ mental Management, ATEGRUS, and the First International Congress on the Prevention of Environmental Conflicts and Disasters, PRECEDES. Furthermore the associations organizes the Al Invest Sectorial Meeting on ´Management of Waste, Water and Urban Cleanliness´; at this meeting, 25 Latin American small and medium-sized companies within the sector will hold talks with 75 European companies with a view to establishing trading links. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
