Pöyry awarded EUR 1.0 million tunnel survey contract in Austria

Pöyry's Infrastructure & Environment business group, in association with its local partners, has been awarded a service contract by ASFINAG (Autobahnen- und Schnellstrassen- Finanzierungs- Aktiengesellschaft), Austria, for the second tube of the Tauern tunnel.

The Tauern tunnel, with a total length of about 6.5 km, links up the Pongau and Lungau districts of Salzburg in Austria. The net total costs, including engineering, building and project management, amount to about EUR 214 million. Pöyry's share of the contract is EUR 1.0 million. The services will be completed by April 2009.

Pöyry's services include tunnel deformation measurements, drift control and tunnel scanning. A corresponding survey was conducted in 2005 and 2006 for the second tube of the Katschberg tunnel on the Tauernautobahn (A10) motorway.
