Acciona obtains ground handling concession at Frankfurt airport

The Hessen Ministry of Economy and Transport has awarded Acciona Airport Services, Spain's largest handling operator, a 5-year concession for ground handling services at Frankfurt airport, in Germany.

Acciona Airport Services has been operating at Frankfurt Airport since 1999, servicing 45,000 flights per year. This second concession commences on 1 November 2006; revenues are estimated to exceed 200 million euro in the five-year period.

Acciona Airport Services currently provides handling services at five airports. In addition to three concessions in Berlin (Tegel, Tempelhof and Schönefeld), it now has two concessions in Frankfurt and was recently awarded a 7-year concession for ramp handling services in Hamburg airport. Acciona Airport Services will begin to operate at Hamburg airport from 31 July 2006, under a contract estimated to provide over 40 million euro in revenues.
