EarthBlock to begin construction homes from earth

EarthBlock Technologies announced that it will begin construction of two 1,272 square foot homes in Midland, Texas. The homes are anticipated to be completed by early August, 2006. The walls of the homes will be constructed of compressed earth blocks. The blocks form walls 12 inches thick and provide a strong, quiet and very energy efficient dwelling. The blocks are manufactured on the building site, eliminating shipping and handling of wall materials. This allows the walls to be constructed more quickly than traditional wood framed houses. Each house will contain approximately 6,000 compressed earth blocks.

While the cost of the homes will be comparable with other homes in the vicinity, the energy savings and high quality of our masonry homes should make them very popular.
