Lord Foster admitted being Germanophile

Lord Foster was awarded the BGA Medal of Honour for services to Anglo-German relations. The BGA Medal of Honour was founded in 1993 by the current President, Lord Watson of Richmond. Previous recipients have included Sir Edward Heath, Lord Jenkins of Hillhead (on retiring as President of the European Commission), Helmut Schmidt (ex Bundeskanzler), Lord (Douglas) Hurd, Dr Alan Russell (Dresden Trust), Sir Leon Brittan (on retiring as Vice-Chairman of the European Commission), Lufthansa CEO and Siemens CEO.

Lord Foster said: "I feel incredibly privileged to have been working in Germany for over 19 years where the attitude and spirit around ecology and energy is so progressive. I am a 'Germanophile' and deeply indebted to Germany for its many opportunities that we have been afforded. Our office in Berlin is growing and more than 20% of our London studio are German architects."
