Arcadis Wins Special French National Engineering Award

Arcadis, an international consulting and engineering company, announced that a team led by the Company's French operating unit has been awarded the Special Price of Grand prix National de l'Ingénierie, or Special National Engineering Award for its work on the 6th bridge over the Seine river in the French city of Rouen. The competition is organized yearly by the French Ministry of Transport, Equipment, Tourism and Sea, together with the professional federation of engineering companies "Syntec-Ingénierie", and supported by the magazine "Le Moniteur".

The team led by Michel Moussard and Bernard Gausset from Arcadis included architect Aymeric Zublena, Jean-Pierre Ghilardi from Eurodim, consultant Michel Virlogeux, and Claude Servant from Eiffage TP. The lifting bridge, with four elegant vertical piers and two decks moving horizontally thanks to clever upper systems for cables, was commended for its striking design and the fact that the structure is well integrated in the urban landscape. Members of this team of bridge experts were involved earlier in the design and realization of the famous viaduct of Millau – the highest viaduct in the world – as well as the Pont de Normandie.
