| Clark/Smoot to Build Retail Complex in Washington, D.C. Clark/Smoot DC USA, a joint venture was awarded a contract to construct DC USA, a $150-million retail complex at 14th and Irving Streets, NW, in Washington, D.C. The complex will provide residents of the Columbia Heights neighborhood with local access to popular national retail chains. Retailers such as Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls and Staples will occupy significant portions of this 550,000-square-foot development. Washington Sports Club also will open a 40,000-square-foot facility which will include a swimming pool and regulation-size basketball court. The project is being developed by a joint venture of Grid Properties and the Gotham Organization, both based in New York City. Bower Lewis Thrower Architects of Philadelphia is leading the design efforts. Cosentini Associates will provide MEP design and Delon Hampton of Washington, D.C. will handle structural and civil disciplines.
