JGC Awarded Basic Design Work for US Gasification Project

Yokohama-based JGC Corporation has been awarded a contract for the basic design of a US ammonia production plant which will use gasified petroleum coke as its raw material.

The world-scale petcoke gasification project is being developed by US Syngas LLC. Mozaic Fertilizer LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mosaic Company of the US will market or purchase a majority of the 1.3 million annual tons of anhydrous ammonia produced at a new complex to be constructed adjacent to Mosaic's existing manufacturing plant in Louisiana.

JGC's recent accomplishment for Nippon Petroleum Refining Co., Ltd. in Yokohama, Japan has generated significant international interest in JGC gasification knowhow. As such, JGC was invited to participate in the earliest stage of project planning for the Louisiana project resulting in JGC receiving the basic design work.
