| New electric cylinders The new Duff-Norton SCN Series SuperCylinders are the perfect fit for critical applications demanding high capacities and high speeds. SuperCylinders are already being used in the Defense, Communications, Food, Steel, Aggregate, Mining, and other industries; replacing both electric and hydraulic cylinders. The Duff-Norton SCN Series SuperCylinder uses the combination of a precision guided translating tube system coupled to a motor and reducer via a trunnion housing. Three basic configurations are available: Offset, Parallel, and Right Angle. The ground and chrome plated translating tube sliding in polymeric bearings produces excellent wear resistance. This guided tube assembly lets SuperCylinders achieve much greater stroke lengths in compressive loading than is possible with conventional double clevis mounted mechanical actuators. Enclosure of the screw by the tube system shields it from environmental contaminants and retains lubricants, requiring less maintenance and allowing longer service. SuperCylinders use hydraulic cylinder grade wiper seals to effectively exclude dirt from the screw area. Some of the more important SuperCylinder features are: - Speeds Up To 379.5 in/min; - Capacities Up To 25 Tons; - Standard Strokes Up To 13 Feet; - Helical Gearing; - Continuous Duty Ratings; - Low Power Requirements; - Trunnion Mounting. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
