Owens Corning Launches Hurricane Preparedness Week

In advance of the 2006 hurricane season, which begins on June 1st, Owens Corning is leveraging the launch of Hurricane Preparedness Week to educate builders and homeowners in the Southeastern U.S. on the importance of understanding local building codes, as well as the affect of hurricane-force winds on their homes.

Owens Corning is a leader in building science technologies and produces an insulated concrete forming (ICF) system called Fold-Form. Solid concrete reinforced walls built with Fold-Form have been proven to provide superior protection against flying debris from winds as high as 200 miles per hour. By comparison, FEMA states that Hurricane Katrina achieved landfall wind speeds of 140 mph in southeast Louisiana last year.
