| Atkins Highways Partnership Gets Top Industry Award The flagship highways partnership between Northamptonshire County Council and Atkins has been named the UK's 'most effective' by industry experts. The partnership, which delivers most of the county's highways services, won the Institution of Highways and Transportation award for Effective Partnerships at a ceremony in London. The contract signed between NCC and Atkins in 2001 was the first of its kind in the UK, and has since delivered more than £200m of work ranging from Real Time Passenger Information on buses in Northampton and the 'Streetdoctor' fault reporting service, to routine maintenance. Under the partnership, NCC is responsible for policy, strategy and budget control, while Atkins are responsible for technical services, detailed design and construction works, and the operational management and maintenance of the county's roads. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
