Mott MacDonald to Work on Two EU Water Programmes

Mott MacDonald has been appointed to provide assistance on two EU funded programmes, one in Papua New Guinea to help improve water supply and sanitation and the other, for the continuation of a water sector institutional development programme in Romania.

In Papua New Guinea, Mott MacDonald, in association with ULG Northumbrian (the lead company), has been appointed by the government to implement technical assistance for the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) programme.

In Romania Mott MacDonald has won a further role on the EU funded SAMTID programme (Institution Building to Support the Small and Medium Towns Infrastructure Development). The initial phase of the SAMTID programme which ran during 2005 was aimed at improving financial and operating performance (FOPIP) in five newly formed Regional Operating Companies (ROCs) in the water sector. This latest project involves providing continuing support to the ROCs involved in the pilot phase and assisting five additional ROCs joining the programme. The Mott MacDonald team will also provide capacity building support at ministry level in Bucharest.
