| Flatiron to Design and Build New Mississippi River Cable Bridge ![]() The bridge will connect St. Francisville and New Roads just north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The main cable-stayed span will stretch 1, 583 feet across the Mississippi River to become the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The official groundbreaking is planned for May 11 and the bridge is slated to open in early 2010.
