Eiffage reports First Quarter Sales up 24.1%

Consolidated sales reported by Eiffage, the large French construction group, increased by 24.1% to €2.2 billion in the first quarter of 2006.

Not taking into account concessions, consolidated sales increased by 15.4%, of which 3.7% was contributed by acquisitions. Since the start of 2006, the earthmoving, civil engineering, road construction and road maintenance activities have been regrouped under Eiffage Travaux Publics, leaving Eiffage Construction to focus on construction and property development. Comparatives for 2005 have been restated to provide meaningful comparisons.

Construction recorded an increase of 4.2% (with acquisitions contributing 1.2%), in line with full-year guidance.

Public works recorded a strong increase of 21.9% (with acquisitions contributing 1.4%) due partly to a base effect as the level of road construction and maintenance activity in the first quarter of 2005 was affected by adverse weather conditions.

The order book increased to €7.9 billion at 31 March 2006, up by 6.5% in the first three months and by 10.2% year-on-year. The order book represents nearly 11 months of activity.
