Mott MacDonald and QualityTonnes to develop CDM Projects

Mott MacDonald, one of the UK's leading energy consultancies, and QualityTonnes, one of the top CDM project developers, will work together to develop greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction projects around the world for sale in the international carbon market.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol allows projects that reduce GHG emissions in developing countries to generate credits and be sold to international buyers.

The two companies will work particularly in the developing world, to survey existing and potentially new clients for GHG-reduction opportunities. Emphasis will be placed on oil and gas companies, electric utilities, water companies, selected industry sectors and renewable energy developers – all areas in which QualityTonnes has already developed approved CDM methodologies. Mott MacDonald will focus on developing the technical side of the projects, while QualityTonnes will focus on the complex CDM certification process.
