Amec Supports the Prince of Wales in Building Better Lives

Amec, the international project management and services group, has signed up to a major new pilot initiative led by The Prince's Trust, to help disadvantaged young people develop their practical skills and move into employment within the construction industry.

Building Better Lives brings together the CBS Leadership Group, which includes Amec, BAA, Balfour Beatty, ConstructionSkills, DLA Piper, DRAX, ICI Paints and Rok, with The Prince's Trust in a unique collaboration that will give young people a better chance in life and at the same time begin to address the skills shortage currently faced by the industry.

A group of 18-25 year olds will learn a variety of new skills such as carpentry, plumbing, brickwork, painting and decorating. It will also help improve their self-confidence, team working and communication skills. Participants will also be entered for the Construction Industry Health and Safety Test, and those who complete the programme will be presented with a Key Skills Level 1 Certificate.
