| Leighton and John Holland to Construct Military Facilities Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd has been awarded a $64 million contract to construct facilities at RAAF Base, Amberley, Queensland. John Holland Pty Ltd has been awarded the construction of $120 million worth of works at the Holsworthy Barracks, Sydney, New South Wales. Leighton Contractors will construct facilities to support the relocation of Army's 9th Force Support Battalion which provides strategic heavy lift vehicles to convey tanks, armoured vehicles, major construction plants and bulk stores. Typically 9th Force Support Battalion transports its customers from their home bases to training areas in Queensland, Northern Territory and South Australia. The planned facilities are scheduled for completion by December 2007. John Holland has been awarded the head contract for the main works of the Special Operations Working Accommodation project. This contract provides for redevelopment at Holsworthy in Sydney to accommodate the 4th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, the Incident Response Regiment and elements of the Special Operations Combat Services Support Company. The contract is part of a $207.7 million project to deliver facilities for these Special Forces capabilities and to upgrade base infrastructure services at Holsworthy.
