| Acciona's new thermal solar energy initiative in the USA Solargenix Energy Inc., 55% owned by Acciona Energy, has constructed a solar thermal electric power plant at Saguaro, Red Rock (Arizona, USA) for the electric power company APS as a turnkey project. The 1 MW plant is the first in the world to incorporate automatic operation technology. Solargenix is currently building a 64 MW thermal electric plant for the Spanish company at Boulder City, Nevada, which will be the largest of its type installed in the world in the last fifteen years. The Saguaro facility is located 30 miles north-west of Tucson on land belonging to APS. The technology used in this plant can be also used for systems that are not grid connected. It is therefore of particular interest for limited power applications (up to 5 MW) -in rural or isolated areas far from electric grids-. It can be also be used for thermal applications, for example, process steam. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
