White House Names HDR's Peters to Transportation Commission

President George W. Bush has appointed Mary Peters to the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission as created by Section 1909(b) of the SAFTEA-LU transportation bill.

Peters, a senior vice president with architectural and engineering firm HDR, is based in the firm's Phoenix office. She served as FHWA Administrator from 2001 to 2005.

The commission includes 12 members. Congressional leadership of the House and the Senate appoint eight members, and three members are appointed by the President. The Secretary of Transportation serves as the chair.
