Impregilo Closes Contract for Thessaloniki Underground Railway

The contract for the construction of the Thessaloniki automatic underground railway was signed in Athens with Attiko Metro S.A., the body responsible for the construction and management of underground railways in Greece.

The contract-winning grouping consists of Impregilo, the Greek building company Aegek S.A. and Seli S.p.A. for the civil engineering works; and Ansaldo Trasporti Sistemi Ferroviari S.p.A. and Ansaldo-Breda S.p.A. for the technological works.

Overall, the contract is worth 798 million euro, of which the civil engineering projects account for approximately 500 million euro.

The project envisages construction of an automatic light underground railway, comprising two 9.5 km tunnels and 13 new underground stations.
