Bouygues Construction wins two contracts in Dubai

Bouygues Bātiment International and VSL, Bouygues Construction subsidiaries, have secured two new contracts in Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

Bouygues Bātiment International, in joint venture with Abu Dhabi contractor Target Engineering Construction Co., has started construction work on a 5-star Ritz Carlton hotel. This landmark project, worth 225 million euros is carried out on behalf of Union Properties PJSC, a leading Dubai property developer. The hotel and apartments are due to be delivered at the end of December 2008. It is the second Ritz Carlton hotel to be built by Bouygues Bātiment International after the one in Singapore and completes the company's portfolio of ongoing projects, including Hyatt hotels in Yekaterinburg (Russia) and Trinidad & Tobago in the Caribbean. Among completed projects are major hotel facilities in Cuba and Tunisia.

VSL has also started construction work on the "Red Line" light rail transit (LRT) project which will cross Dubai. VSL is the lead firm of this 100 million euro contract, which involves precasting and erecting 13, 000 segments using eight launching girders. The 45km-long viaduct will be carried out in a joint venture with Freyssinet International and Rizzani de Eccher. The contract also includes an option to build 10 km of viaducts on a second LRT line, the "Green Line", worth 20 million euros. The project will be completed in September 2008.
